Project Director, Commercials & Corporate-Educational Contracts – Los Angeles or New York

 

Job Description:

The Project Director position is responsible for overseeing several initiatives related to strategically repositioning SAG-AFTRA’s relationship with industry employers and agents, with the goal of expanding work opportunities across the country for our members.  This position is essential in developing work opportunities under the Commercials Contracts for members on a national basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under oversight of the National Director, plan, develop and implement effective short-term and long-term strategies to diminish the proliferation of nonunion work in the areas of commercials and non-broadcast programs. 
• Join team efforts to network and develop relationships with nonunion producers, advertising agencies and advertisers, as well as casting directors and talent agents.
• Coordinate work expansion opportunities between the Commercials Department and other relevant departments and local offices, especially organizing and industry relations.
• Work as a project director on initiatives related to strategically repositioning SAG-AFTRA’s relationship with industry employers and agents with the goal of expanding work opportunities across the country for our members. 
• Research and track nonunion productions to determine appropriate organizing targets.
• Work closely with individual members and committees.
• Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Experience with collective bargaining agreements.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Reasonable understanding of the advertising industry.
• Experience with relationship building within the industry, campaign management, and organizing techniques is a plus.
• Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
• Dedication to workers’ rights and social justice.
• Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.

• Able to clearly articulate key messages to colleagues, members, individual producers and large groups.

• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA’s sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelors’ degree is required, with a minimum 5 years of related experience

Experience with collective bargaining agreements; Knowledge of the Commercials & Corporate/Educational and Non-Broadcast Contracts highly desired
Strong interpersonal skills

Certificates, licenses, and/or registrations:
Must have a current driver license and automobile (in reliable working condition), and current automobile insurance that meets the state minimum requirements.
