
Campaigns Director
The International Labor Rights Forum (ILRF), a nonprofit located in Washington, DC, seeks a Campaigns Director to help carry out our public campaign advocacy for workers’ rights and build our base of supporters and participating activists. This position will require excellent writing skills; experience in social/economic justice campaigning; enthusiasm to travel frequently; and knowledge about international labor rights issues with the ability to speak persuasively to audiences of all sizes on topics including freedom of association and collective bargaining; child labor, forced labor and trafficking; and the power of organizing for achieving change.
Job responsibilities include:

Provide strategic input and vision to support ILRF’s public campaign activities

Develop, coordinate and implement all aspects of corporate and advocacy campaigns, including desk and field research, media and public relations, corporate pressure tactics, e-activism, investor strategies, coalition building and partner development

Direct corporate outreach and help manage negotiations with target companies

Write content for ILRF’s website, blog, twitter, facebook, campaign and outreach materials, e-mail communications, action alerts, and press releases

Draft and assist in the publication of reports, case studies, and analysis for partners, funders and target audiences

Represent ILRF publicly at speaking events, conferences, coalition meetings, actions, and as a media spokesperson

Cultivate individual and organizational donors through relationship development, events, and direct pitches

Evaluate and monitor effectiveness of campaign strategies and integrate findings into future activities

Write grant applications and grant reports
Qualifications:
-
5+ years’ experience in social/economic justice campaigning
-
Excellent writing and editing skills
-
Skills in writing email blasts, action alerts, and press releases on short notice
-
Experience planning and leading creative nonviolent direct actions and educational events
-
Experience as a trainer, workshop leader, and public speaker

Well-organized and detail-oriented
-
A good understanding of media messaging and framing

Experience in online community management or in using a variety of social media tools to engage an online audience

Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple simultaneous projects

Enthusiasm for traveling for building ILRF networks and alliances
Preferred:
-
Master’s degree, English major, or journalism experience

Fluency in Spanish or French
-
Skilled in and enjoy working with Salsa CMS, Website editing (Drupal, Typepad, other), Facebook, Twitter, video editing, and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
