Data Specialist

Primary Responsibilities:
-
Manage and ensure the integrity of data related to member engagement and activities;
-
Assist in devising strategies and tactics for managing the implementation of a new dues structure in the union’s data management system;
-
Create systems for ensuring the accuracy of membership data and devising new metrics that inform member engagement and development activities;
-
Develop a thorough understanding of our membership database and how it is used by staff across the organization;
-
Work with all divisions and departments within Local 1 to ensure that field and Member Services staff effectively maintain, extract and use data;
-
Import and export data between vendors and databases;
-
Assist in documenting standard operating procedures;
-
Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change;
-
Oversee data cleanup and produce reports on member leadership and action;
-
Train members on the VAN and perform scheduling for phone banks;
-
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree or 1-3 years of related work experience and/or training;
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with Access a plus;

Experience using Unionware a plus, experience using the VAN helpful;
-
Strong problem solving skills;
-
Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and set priorities;
-
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with people inside and outside the organization.

Strong quantitative and analytic skills, including proficiency with spreadsheet and relational database software applications, and experience working with large data sets;
