JOB TITLE:   ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, RESEARCH
STARTING SALARY:  $62,429

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for all aspects of collective bargaining for assigned units.
• Develops collective bargaining proposals with local leadership and rank and file committees and prepares them for presentation to management.
• Acts as chief spokesperson during negotiations.
• On-going general and statistical research analysis of policy issues, including taxes, employment and unemployment, health and social services, economic development,     financial and investment trends, pensions, and health care costs.
• Collects/gathers information from various sources, analyzing and producing material for use by the department for collective bargaining and special research projects, including salary comparisons and personnel trends.
• Attends local membership meetings and make presentations on collective bargaining issues and outcomes.
• Drafts contract language; proofs contracts and readies final contract for signature.
• Works with local leadership and Council field staff on contract enforcement, including attending labor-management meetings and personnel issues.
• Performs related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

• B.A. Degree
• Experience in collective bargaining, labor relations and public policy preferred.
• Strong writing ability
• Quantitative skills and ability to independently gather and analyze information from various sources.
• Knowledge of data processing; experience with personal computers and software.
