EMAIL COORDINATOR

The United Federation of Teachers – the 200,000-member union of New York City public school teachers and other professionals working in schools, hospitals and child care —   seeks an energetic, self-motivated email coordinator who will work as part of a close-knit web communications team. The coordinator’s main responsibilities will be sending email blasts and creating online forms and surveys.

The email coordinator will have primary responsibility for managing and generating targeted member email lists, drafting and sending routine email blasts and associated registration forms, formatting our weekly chapter leader newsletter, maintaining the website events calendar, generating regular reports on email analytics and using those findings to help improve the union’s email strategy.

The coordinator will also be responsible, as needed, for creating online petitions and member surveys, sending text messages, posting and updating content on the union’s website, assisting union members with website signup and email issues, and providing some administrative support for web communications.

Bachelor’s degree required. Prior work experience in digital communications preferred. Must have an eagerness to learn new online tools. Excellent writing and proofreading skills. Attention to detail and strong work ethic. Working knowledge of Google Analytics or other analytics tool, Excel, Photoshop and HTML a plus. Experience supporting web-based content management systems a plus. (Our website uses Drupal; our bulk email program is phpList; we use Wufoo for forms and surveys and Dreamweaver for online newsletters. Knowledge of these specific platforms and applications is a plus.)
