New Media Content Coordinator
The United Federation of Teachers – the 200,000 member union of New York City public school teachers and other professionals in the schools, hospitals and child care – seeks a New Media Content Coordinator with a passion for public schools and the people who work in them. Under the direction of the Director Member Communications, and in collaboration with the rest of the web communications team, the New Media content Coordinator will maintain the union’s website as a reliable, up-to-date source of information; write, edit and send email blasts and text messages; and create new content and adapt existing content for use on the UFT’s blog and social media sites, primarily Facebook and Twitter. The New Media Content Coordinator will also measure the impact of the union’s online initiatives and apply those insights to get results.
The New Media Content Coordinator should have top-notch writing, editing, and proofreading skills as well as experience blogging, writing for social media and, ideally, building a WordPress site. Applicants must have an established digital footprint and be wired into the latest online trends, tools and platforms. The candidate should care about the educational and labor issues confronting teachers.
Regular workday will be 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
