Communities United is a new and growing organization with tremendous potential. It is a partner of the Leadership Center for the Common Good, a national training and support center for community organizations based in Washington, DC.

Job Title: Campaign Director

Position Location: Baltimore, MD

Position Summary:

The position requires experience in community and/or labor organizing and will call upon the skills and passion of a first-rate organizer, strategist and fundraiser.  As Campaign Director, you will have the opportunity to advance nationally significant, progressive campaigns in Maryland.

Responsibilities:

• Building powerful local, state, or national issue campaigns focusing on better wages, voting rights, housing justice, and more;
• Building new, powerful community organizations in target communities;
• Organizational development including leadership and board development, oversight of operation, as well as development of non-organizing programs (e.g. communications and policy);
• Work with and report to Communities United’s Executive Director, board and staff in coordinating any statewide campaign efforts;
• Develop and implement campaign plans;
• Plan and execute community mobilization activities and actions;
• Work with partner organizations and allies to support the participation and leadership of local staff and members;
• Provide a strategic vision for campaigns that promote the vision of a better more equitable Maryland;
• Provide coaching and mentoring to staff, volunteers and campaign partners;
• Collaborate on communications to successfully project campaign’s impact;
• Ensure that all the many moving pieces are implemented successfully.

Job Requirements:
• Minimum 2-3 years organizing experience (labor or community, or non-candidate electoral);
• Experience leading organizing campaigns with prominent significance and impact;
• Understanding of issues facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, and other communities of color;
• Experience building broad-based coalitions;
• Comfort with the implementation of a range of organizing strategies and tactics;
• Success at fund raising;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Excellent organizational skills - good attention to detail and well organized;
• Self-motivated - proven ability to work independently;
• Ability to work well with diverse groups and populations;
• Dedication and ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends;
• Spanish/English bilingual preferred but not required;
• Valid driver’s license and access to a car.
