Political Field Manager, Voter Expansion Program

Leadership Center for the Common Good (CommonGood) is a national organization that supports and partners with statewide grassroots organizations in 18 states and over 45 cities around the country.Our partner organizations are rooted in low-­and moderate-­income communities, communities of color, and immigrant communities. Common Good and its state partners are multi-­‐issue organizations committed to moving campaigns and programs that promote pro-­worker, pro-­equality, pro-­family and pro-­‐inclusionary goals. We are committed to building strong and sustainable movements through strategic partnerships, dedication to leadership  development and training, and exploring innovative and creative organizing models and tactics. We are seeking an experienced and energetic professional who will work with the Political Director to build and strengthen the civic engagement and electoral capacities of our state partner organizations across the country. This person will assist the Political Director in the development and implementation of our Voter Expansion Program. The Voter Expansion Program is a national campaign to move progressive voting rights policies at the state and county level that will make the democratic process more open and accessible.

Primary Responsibilities:

The candidate will report to the Political Director and will:

Voter Expansion Program

● Support the overall growth and effective implementation of the Voter Expansion
Program
● Work with Political Director and state partners to design and implement strategic statewide campaigns on voting rights
● Assist state partners in identifying allies and developing and or strengthening state tables on voting rights
● Coordinate communication between state partners
and other allies around Voter Expansion program
● Research and prepare tools, factsheets,reports,Op-­‐Eds, and other materials to support Voter
Expansion campaigns.

Civic Engagement and Political Department

● Assist state partners in the development of comprehensive political
plans that engage community members in the electoral process, including voter
education,GOTV, and legislative issue campaigns on Voting
Rights
● Work with Political Director to oversee implementation of political program, including established field tracking, data and accountability systems
● Build and maintain relationships with Common Good state partners and other allies
● Work with Political Director and partner grassroots organizations to develop innovative, sustainable methods of financing progressive civic engagement work.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

● At least five years experience in organizing, electoral, civic engagement, or political campaigns, with some relevant connection to community, labor, or other non-­‐candidate politics
● Familiarity and experience with voting rights and electoral reform policies
● Strong commitment to social and economic justices issues
● Experience managing large scale or statewide issue campaigns
● Independent and strong leader that is able to drive projects  and programs to completion in fast-­paced environment with modest supervision
● Ability to work within a coalition of diverse organizational partners
● Familiarity with political data, latest technologies, and best practices in the field
● Experience working in diverse communities and with grassroots organizations
● Results-­‐focused and organized
● Willing to have significant travel schedule
● Excellent writing and communications skills.
