The United Service Workers West (USWW) is comprised of 40,000 property service workers from San Diego to Sacramento. Our union brings together janitors, security officers, residential, stadium, arena and airport workers. These workers are the heart of our union and through their activism the hope for a more progressive California.
SEIU USWW has a research position available immediately, based in Oakland.
The researcher will work as a member of the research center team. Together with organizing leads, political and communications staff, the researcher will work to develop and implement corporate, legal, legislative, and regulatory strategies to advance organizing and bargaining campaigns. Work will also include tracking key real estate players and industrial trends, doing company profiles, as well as personal investigative research.

• Ability to utilize information about workers, employers, economic/financial research on company or industry to inform and develop campaign strategies.
• Strong research & quantitative skills. Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Access and a variety of computer-based research tools.
• Excellent writing and communications skills a must.
• Familiarity or willingness to learn basics of accounting and corporate financial analysis.
• Ability to work well under tight deadlines and in a team environment.
• Ability to speak Spanish, Cantonese, or Tagalog a plus.
• Must have car and insurance. Car allowance provided.
