The National Labor College is the only regionally-accredited higher education institution devoted exclusively to educating union members, leaders and staff. The College has recently launched three new fully- online bachelor’s degree programs for which it will be seeking adjunct faculty.
The College hires adjuncts based on the needs of the institution and its programs. Because our needs for faculty change quickly, having an application on file with us may be beneficial.

Requirements:
A Master’s degree or higher and five years teaching experience in a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Experience in the field/practitioner is highly desirable. Experience teaching online strongly preferred. Experience working with adult learners and a commitment to building a strong labor movement are also required.
All adjunct positions are covered by the NLC’s adjunct faculty union, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).
Expertise in the following areas is being sought:
Construction Management – Courses include: methods and materials, graphics, estimating, specifications, project administration, building systems, construction cost accounting, and sustainable construction. The degree is geared for members of the Building and Construction Trade unions who are interested in becoming effective construction managers. Courses will provide knowledge and competence in integrating safe and ethical practices efficiently and profitably into the construction management processes.
Emergency Readiness and Response Management – Courses include: emergency planning, disaster response, emergency readiness and response management, risk management, financial planning, systems thinking, labor and global economy. The degree program is designed for union members in Fire Services, EMS, Law Enforcement, Public Safety, Homeland Security, and other related unions. Areas of study include the rise of modern terrorism, domestic terrorism, the Homeland Security organization, and labor and civil liberties issues.
Business Administration – Courses include: financial and accounting controls, legal environment, entrepreneurship, business ethics and sustainability, digital learning, negotiations and dispute resolution, and organizational dynamics. This program is for union business managers and other union staff or elected officials interested in improving their ability to manage and administer unions and other organizations. Union members interested in starting or improving the performance of their own small business will find this program suitable for their learning needs.
