JAP CENSUS TOTAL LISTED IN SC AREA

Santa Cruz county has 106 Japanese farm operators, of whom 83 are tenant farmers, according to 1940 census figures by state department of agriculture.

Total, 106; full owners, 11; part owners, 12; farm managers, none; tenant farmers, 83.

Of the total 81 were in Watsonville, 25 in Santa Cruz.

Victor W. Killick, chairman of the California population commission, revealed 97 as the number of Japanese aliens and citizens in the city of Santa Cruz. The citizen Japanese included 40 males and 32 females, the alien Japanese, 15 males and 10 females.

Santa Cruz county has 1301 Japanese aliens and citizens, according to previously announced federal census figures.
