City of Santa Cruz
City Councils and Mayors, 1948--1969

In 1948, the City adopted a new charter. This charter established a Council-Manager form of government. The Mayor and six Councilmembers set policy for the City. The City Manager serves as the chief administrator of those policies. The charter of 1948, as amended, is still in effect (as of 1996).

Unless otherwise noted, the date after a name is the date the person assumed office. An * indicates the Assistant Mayor.
