Old Soldiers: Santa Cruz County Civil War Veterans

Passing of Veteran
Owen B. Mason, a Civil war veteran and a citizen highly esteemed, passed away suddenly yesterday morning while sitting in his chair, in the kitchen of his home at 68 Riverside Ave.
His wife had left the house for a short time and was calling on a neighbor who was ill. On her return she found her husband had died during her short absence, and apparently without a struggle.
Mr. Mason had served his country in the Civil war and was prominent among the G.A.R. veterans. he was 77 years of age and a native of Pennsylvania. He had lived in this city for two years.
An inquest will be held this morning at Chase's undertaking parlors by Coroner W.R. Congdon. The funeral will be held Monday morning from the undertaking parlors.
