Notes:
Of 104 parcels shown, 21 were owned by lime companies (or persons involved in the lime business). This represents 20% of the parcels in Bonny Doon! Although not all acreages are listed, it appears that approximately 50% of the land area was devoted to the lime industry. Wine and dairies are the only other uses apparent.
Other items worth noting are:
- The variation in company names. Many names changed over time with mergers and change in ownership.
- Parcels 20 & 94: Russell and Ley were associated with the Holmes Lime Company.
- Parcel 25 : The Holmes Lime Company owned all of the upper Laguna canyon as well as the Laguna limekiln site.
- Parcel 30: This is the lot described by Ruth Adams Trotts as belonging to her paternal grandfather, reverend Phelps R. Adams. (see interview. [Not included on this site.])
- Parcels 98 & 100: Was I.L.Thurber the partner of Cowell shown for Parcel 100? Was there any connection with the T.J. Thurber (see Koch) who ran a quarry in Santa Cruz? Was Parcel 98 the site of the bitumen quarry?
