SHERMAN, WILLARD H (1833-1890)
Santa Cruz Sentinel (June 27, 1886)
W.H.L. Wallace Post is organizing one of the best and most complete drum corps on the coast, consisting of eight boys, sons of veterans. The drums and fifes etc. have been purchased in Boston and are expected to arrive soon. The boys will be uniformed very nicely. The drum corp. will be instructed in their duties by W.H. Sherman of said post, who was a regular musician in the late war. Mr. Sherman is said to be one of the best instructors in this line in town.
Santa Cruz Sentinel (August 9, 1890)
W.H. Sherman, a member of the late Second Minnesota Infantry is lying dangerously ill, his right side being paralyzed at his home in East Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz Surf (August 14, 1890)
Died: Sherman in East Santa Cruz August 13, 1890 W.H. Sherman a member of the late 2nd Minnesota Volunteer Infantry. Age 57 years 6 months 1 day.
Funeral from residence on Branciforte avenue tomorrow (Friday) at 2 o'clock P.M. Friends and acquaintances invited to attend.
Santa Cruz Surf (August 16, 1890)
The funeral of Comrade W.H. Sherman occurred yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. J.F. Reynolds and W.H. Wallace Post Grand Army were out in a body. Rev. E.D. McCreary and Rev. Mr. Leavitt both spoke during the service. Music was rendered by Misses Dunlap and Bauter and Messrs R. Case and H Fay. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery.
