Old Soldiers: Santa Cruz County Civil War Veterans

Civil War Veteran Died Here Yesterday
Eugene Phelps, old G.A.R. veteran, passed away at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Mae Peterson, 271 Ford street. Deceased was formerly of Placerville but had made his home with Mrs. Peterson for the past few months.
Mr. Phelps was close to 90 years of age. During the civil war he served with the 30 Michigan Infantry.
The body will be shipped to Placerville Wednesday morning for interment.
