SANTA CRUZ' S ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE

The second major residential building style of the 1850's and 60's was the Gothic Revival. Buildings of this style have pointed arches, delicate split pilasters, arched porches and pointed arch windows. This style resulted from the nineteenth century desire for the picturesque and romatic medieval Gothic Cathedral style. The 1865 Calvary Episcopal Church at 532 Center Street is an example of the Gothic Revival style.
