(7:00 PM-8:30 PM)
Location: Santa Cruz High School Auditorium, 415 Walnut Ave., Santa Cruz
In collaboration with Willing Suspension Armchair Theater, Santa Cruz Reads presents a very special Banned Books Reader's Theater! An all-star cast of actors, educators, activists, politicians, and writers will read excerpts from banned books. Following the readings, Julie Minnis will lead a Q & A and discussion. We hope you'll join us for this exciting prelude to our upcoming month-long Community Read series on the frequently banned and challenged "Grapes of Wrath". Santa Cruz Reads is a partnership between the Santa Cruz Public Libraries, the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries, and Santa Cruz Writes.

October 19, 2012

(5:30 PM-8:00 PM)
Location: Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium
Each spring and fall, the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries holds a huge book sale at the Civic Auditorium in downtown Santa Cruz. The books and media sold are the crème de la crème of book donations, from fiction to children’s books, audio tapes to CD’s (sorry, no vinyl). Our non-fiction covers subjects from A-Z: cookbooks, crafts, foreign languages and gardening, health & well-being, poetry, religion & spirituality, travel, reference, sports & games, and humor! We also have an impressive selection of vintage books, including some real treasures of antiquity. Friday evening is a Members Only Preview Night, where FSCPL members get a first chance at the finest books. Books are sold at $2.00 per pound. On Saturday morning, doors open to the public. Books will continue to be priced at $2.00 per pound until Saturday afternoon when they are repriced at $5 per grocery bag. We love to see reusable tote bags but we do provide paper grocery bags. To join the Friends and attend Friday's Preview Night, please visit .
