This presentation/performance is done in Civil War period dress. Five very important questions will be answered. Why did Jewish ancestors join in the Civil War? And what specifically did they do and contribute? What happened to these Civil War Veterans after the war ended? What can we do to honor those and all of our ancestors that served in the Civil War? And just why would any person who has been prejudiced all their lives subject themselves to a situation where they might find further prejudice and inability to conform to the dictates of their religion and diet? Our presenter, Richard Ferman, is a direct descendant of a disabled Civil War Veteran, AND a Revolutionary War Patriot. Richard Ferman is a past President (1981) and current Program Chair of the Santa Clara County Historical and Genealogical Society. He is currently Secretary for the United Veterans Council of Santa Clara County, Secretary/Treasurer of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and a member of Sons of the American Revolution hereditary society.
