First Friday Santa Cruz

The First Friday Art Tour happens every month, rain or shine throughout Santa Cruz. Founded by the Santa Cruz Institute of Contemporary Arts, and managed in conjunction with the participating Art venues, First Friday is a free event for enthusiastic Art Goers and an opportunity for our many talented Artists to exhibit and promote their work.

One-Step Pages: A Potpourri of Genealogical Search Tools and a Hodgepodge of Lesser-Known Gems

As part of the The Genealogical Society of Santa Cruz County Lecture Series, Dr. Stephen P. Morse will be presenting on Genealogical Search Tools. Dr. Morse's One-Step website started out as an aid for finding passengers in the Ellis Island database. Over the years it has continued to evolve and today includes about 200 web-based tools divided into 16 separate categories ranging from genealogical searches to astronomical calculations to last-minute bidding on eBay. This presentation will describe the range of tools available and give the highlights of each one, including utilities on the One-Step website that may be unfamiliar gems to even the most advanced genealogist.
Please arrive early – maximum seating is 75.

Munching with Mozart and Friends is a free monthly noontime concert series at the Downtown Branch. Join us at 12:10 on the third Thursday of every month to hear local musicians play your favorite classical pieces. Munching With Mozart and Friends is sponsored by the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries and the Santa Cruz County Branch of the Music Teachers’ Association of California. In February, join us for Paul Chamberlain, Classical Accordionist, as he plays works from Bach, Scarlatti, and more.
