Included will be information on the importance of having accurate information for applications and resumes, creating engaging cover letters, assembling a network of references and referrers, finding key persons at a business to act as mentors, building datasets of potential employers based on skill set, work history and preferences as well as how to prepare for interviews and interactions through thorough research.Attendees will need an internet connection and a phone line to participate. The Advisory Council of Teens assists the Teen Services Librarian in providing library service to all Santa Cruz County young adults. Participating teens are from all over the county. For more information about the ACT or other volunteer opportunities call Sandi at 831-427-7700 ext 7665. The ACT meets in the 2nd floor meeting room at the Downtown Branch Library. Meetings are normally the 2nd Sunday of the month from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

Like an unexpected spring flower, a journaling class has appeared at the Downtown branch. Andrew Drinnan, a library volunteer, teaches a journaling class every Tuesday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the first floor conference room at the Downtown branch. "Keeping a journal can be a self-empowering and motivating expressive outlet. Journaling can be a tool for self-awareness. This class/group will share the power of keeping a journal with advice, tips, and motivations to get the most out of yours," says volunteer teacher Andrew Drinnan.

Like an unexpected spring flower, a journaling class has appeared at the Downtown branch. Andrew Drinnan, a library volunteer, teaches a journaling class every Tuesday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the first floor conference room at the Downtown branch. "Keeping a journal can be a self-empowering and motivating expressive outlet. Journaling can be a tool for self-awareness. This class/group will share the power of keeping a journal with advice, tips, and motivations to get the most out of yours," says volunteer teacher Andrew Drinnan.

In conjunction with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, the Santa Cruz Public Libraries are offering free homework assistance at 6 branches. Each Homework Help site is supervised by a California-certified teacher. There is at least one bilingual person at each location. No appointment is necessary. Open to students grade12 and under.

Like an unexpected spring flower, a journaling class has appeared at the Downtown branch. Andrew Drinnan, a library volunteer, teaches a journaling class every Tuesday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the first floor conference room at the Downtown branch. "Keeping a journal can be a self-empowering and motivating expressive outlet. Journaling can be a tool for self-awareness. This class/group will share the power of keeping a journal with advice, tips, and motivations to get the most out of yours," says volunteer teacher Andrew Drinnan.
