Using Califa/OverDrive Music...

 

Califa/OverDrive Music

As a member of the Califa Consortium, Santa Cruz Public Libraries offers access to many downloadable classical music titles. You can check out, download, and listen to this music on your PC or WMA-compliant PDA or other portable device. Selected titles may also be burned to CD.

Please note: At present, Apple computers and iPod players do not play these downloadable titles--View a list of supported players. Digital books are also not available for download to Library computers.

You can access this downloadable music from the OverDrive/Califa website by following these steps:

1. Find a title that you are interested in by either searching the Library Catalog or browsing the "OverDrive Music" section of the Califa/OverDrive site
2. If the title is not currently checked out by another patron, you will see an "Add to BookBag" link. Click this link to begin the checkout process. If the title is not currently available, you can put your name on the Request List by clicking the "Place a Hold" link.
3. During the checkout process you will be prompted to select the name of your library and to enter your library card number.
4. Once you have been successfully authenticated, you will be able to download the music to your PC. If this is the first title you have checked out, you will need to download the OverDrive Media Console BEFORE downloading your music.
5. Listen to the music on your PC using the OverDrive Media Console or transfer it to a WMA-compatible portable device. Some titles may also be burned to CD. Titles are checked out for 21 days.
