SCPL offers eBooks from 5 vendors...
SCPL offers eBooks from five vendors: Netlibrary, the Califa/Overdrive Download Center, Safari Computer eBooks, Tumblebooks for Kids, and the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
All eBooks can be found in the Library Catalog. Search for them just as you would any other library materials--by title, author, subject, or keyword. You may also limit your search by selecting "ebooks" from the "material type" dropdown. They can be distinguished by a unique icon which will appear next to the title.
Califa/Overdrive eBooks
The Califa/Overdrive Download Center features over 1,000 titles in the Adobe eBook format and several hundred titles in the Mobipocket eBook format. You can check out, download, and read these eBooks on your PC, PDA or other portable device.
Access requires a Santa Cruz Public Library card.

TumbleBook Library for Kids
TumbleBook Library is an online collection of TumbleBooks--animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. Also included are games and puzzles.
TumbleBooks are created in flash animation. You will need the Flash plug-in for your browser and a computer set up for sound. If you find that you are unable to view the TumbleBooks at home, you may need to download the free plug-in for Flash animations.
