How Many Libraries Are There?
According to the American Library Association's Fact Sheet 1 of August 2010, there are approximately 122,101 libraries of all kinds in the United States, including 9,221 public libraries.
There are now more public library buildings in the U.S. than there are McDonald's -- a total of 16,671, including branches.
