Focus: Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month

For more than 20 years, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) has educated women about early breast cancer detection as well as diagnosis and treatment. Mammography screenings are a woman's best chance for detecting breast cancer early, and, when coupled with new treatment options, can significantly improve a woman's chances of survival. Every year, breast cancer claims more than 40,000 lives. It's likely that someone you know has been affected by it. Awareness and early detection are our best weapons in the ongoing fight against this killer.

In the CID, local agencies providing breast cancer screening can be found by searching the subject: Mammograms.

For information about breast cancer services and support groups, search under the subject: Breast Cancer.

For additional information on patient services, disease information, and more, take a look at the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month website.
