In January 2011, our Brown Bag seminar series will resume on the second Thursday of every month from 11:45-1:00pm.

This presentation on understanding the numbers of small business financials by Danny Braga, SBDC Certified Financial Advisor, was anything but boring. He began by likening the subject matter to school. Each of us studied varying subjects (construction, librarianship) in school, and GPA's were used to measure our performance. Similarly, diverse businesses (yarn shops, restaurants) all have financial reports to show how they are performing.
Danny discussed WHY financial statements are necessary, and the differences between a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, breakeven analysis, and cash flow statement, using real world examples.
