Tax Tips from Randy Reynolds
"It's not what you earn, it's what you keep." Randy Reynolds had lots of good advice for owners of small businesses in Santa Cruz. He emphasized that business owners should keep their personal finances and business finances separate...one credit card for personal expenses and a separate credit card for business expenses. That way, the owner is making a tax decision at the point of purchase and creating clear records of expenditures. Is what I'm about to buy "an ordinary and necessary business expense"? If yes, then pay with the business card. Randy cautioned that the tax code changes frequently and it is important to keep track.
